Man of God:  A Major Motion Picture on the Life of St. Nektarios

Exiled unjustly, convicted without trial, slandered without cause. Man of God depicts the trials and tribulations of Saint Nektarios of Aegina, as he bears the unjust hatred of his enemies while preaching the Word of God. This movie is being released March 21, 2022 and will be shown at several Regal Cinemas including Fenway in Boston and in Dedham. With the exception of just a few words in Greek (with subtitles), the movie is spoken in English. It begins with the trials that this beloved modern saint (d. 1920) faced while in Alexandria, Egypt, as other bishops were tremendously jealous of his holiness and popularity.

Please take time to watch this most inspiring move “Man of God” that portrays the life of one of the great saints of last century, Saint Nectarios. It shows so powerfully a man of God who displays extreme humility, love, faith and perseverance in the face of lifelong persecution which came mostly from bishops and people of the church. He was slandered and horribly treated, kicked out of the church in Egypt and this scandalous reputation followed him throughout his life. Yet, he faithfully followed Christ and walked the path of a crucified Christ. Saint Nectarios reminds us of who the church really is – it is not simply the hierarchs and clergy and some people in the Church but the Church is the simple, faithful people of God who truly strive to imitate the life of Christ.

May Saint Nectarios pray for all of us, and may his life inspire us and teach us to walk this path of extreme humility, love, faith, and prayer.
